For teams paying WATI forever

Stop paying ₹30,000/month forever.
Own your WhatsApp stack instead.

WATI's Business plan is ₹16,999/month, plus a 20% markup on every Meta message you send, plus per-agent fees, plus integration add-ons. Over three years, that's roughly ₹10.8 lakh — in platform tax alone, before you've sent a single message. There's another path: build your WhatsApp product once on Meta's Cloud API direct, and own it. Here's the honest math.

Why teams leave WATI

The pricing page isn't the bill.

WATI's published ₹2,499/month starter plan is the headline number that gets you in. The actual bill mid-sized teams pay is closer to ₹25,000–₹40,000/month once message markups, per-user fees, and feature unlocks compound. Here's where the gap comes from.

01

The 20% markup on Meta's per-message rates.

Meta charges ₹1.09 per marketing message delivered to an Indian number. WATI passes that through with a 20% markup — ~₹1.31 per message. Send 50,000 marketing messages in a month and that's an extra ₹11,000 you pay to WATI for what is, mechanically, just a relay.

02

The per-agent ceiling.

WATI's Business plan caps at 5 users. Extra agents are ₹4,990/month each. Most growing teams hit this within a quarter. Twenty support agents on the Business tier = ~₹99,950/month in extra seat fees alone, before any message charges.

03

Features locked behind tiers.

WATI's chatbot builder is only available on the ₹16,999/month Business plan. Shopify integration costs ₹400/month extra on top. AI replies, advanced automation, webhook access — each tier adds something the previous tier was missing. The bill scales with feature unlocks, not with your actual usage.

You never own what you build.

Templates, flows, chatbot logic, contact data, automation rules — all of it lives inside WATI's account, configured against their schema. Leave WATI, and you start over somewhere else. There's no equity in the work you've put in. It's all rent.

The 3-year math

What a mid-sized business actually pays on each path.

Assumptions: A coaching center, clinic chain, or D2C brand sending ~10,000 marketing messages per month plus ~5,000 utility messages. 5 team members on inbox. India-based numbers, India recipients. All numbers verified against published 2026 rates.

Cost component WATI Business aivite (Build + Studio)
Platform subscription ₹16,999 / month ₹0 / month
One-time build N/A ₹35,000 (once)
Studio retainer (optional) Not offered ₹1,200 / month
20% BSP markup on messages ₹2,180 / month ₹0 / month
Utility message markup ~₹135 / month ₹0 / month
Monthly platform spend ~₹19,314 / month ~₹1,200 / month
3-year platform total ~₹6.95 lakh ~₹78,200 (saves ~₹6.17L + ownership)

Meta's per-message rates pass through at cost on both sides — same regardless of provider.

WATI's ₹6.95L over three years buys you a subscription. The ₹78K studio build buys you a system you own — code, templates, integration, all transferable. The cash difference is ~₹6.17L. The asset difference is bigger: cancel WATI and access ends that day. Cancel the studio retainer and your build keeps running on your own Cloud API instance.

What we build instead

A real WhatsApp product on Meta's Cloud API direct.

We don't sell you a dashboard. We design and ship a finished WhatsApp product — verified Business Account, designed flows, approved message templates, integrations to your existing systems — running on Meta's Cloud API with no BSP in between. It's a one-time build and a thin optional retainer for ongoing changes.

01

WhatsApp Business Account, verified.

We handle the Meta Business verification, WhatsApp Business Account setup, phone number configuration, green-tick application where applicable. You walk through this once with us on the call and then it's done.

02

Templates, designed properly.

Three to six message templates, written for your voice, structured to maximize approval and minimize per-message cost. Submitted to Meta for approval. We rewrite anything that gets rejected.

03

Automation logic on Cloud API.

The actual product. Custom flows for your business — appointment booking, lead qualification, broadcast scheduling, customer support routing, post-purchase journeys. Whatever the operational reality of your business is, we map it to WhatsApp properly.

04

Integrations to your stack.

CRM, calendar, payment gateway, internal database, sheets — wherever the data lives, we connect to it. WhatsApp becomes one channel in your existing stack, not a separate island.

A real conversation, not a dashboard tour

We sell the product,
not the platform.

Most WhatsApp tools sell you a dashboard. We sell you a finished WhatsApp product that runs your business. The conversation happens in WhatsApp itself — both for your customers, and for you and us during the build.

A 30-minute discovery call is where it starts. We'll listen to how your business runs, sketch the WhatsApp product we'd build, quote a number, and walk you through the 3-year math compared to what you're paying now. No deck, no upsell.

Questions we get from WATI customers

The honest answers.

For a mid-sized business sending around 10,000 marketing messages a month, WATI Business at ₹16,999/month plus 20% markup on Meta's per-message rates works out to roughly ₹30,000/month, or about ₹10.8 lakh over three years. Running the same volume on a WhatsApp product we build directly on Meta's Cloud API — no BSP, no markup — costs the Meta rate (~₹10,900/month for those messages) plus our optional Studio retainer of ₹1,200/month. Over three years, that's roughly ₹4.7 lakh including the one-time Build fee. The savings are real, but the bigger point isn't price — it's ownership.

Two real ones. First, you need someone competent to set up the WhatsApp Business Account, handle Meta's verification, design the templates and flows, and integrate with your existing systems. That's what we build for you. Second, there's no dashboard out of the box — your stack has to be designed properly. Both are addressed in our Build tier. After the build, you own the WhatsApp Business Account, the templates, the data, and the integration. Nothing rents anymore.

WATI's chatbot builder is locked to their ₹16,999/month Business plan, and even there it's a constrained no-code editor. What we build is custom automation logic on Meta's Cloud API directly — designed for your actual operational flows, not a generic builder. The result is more capable and you own the code.

Yes. WhatsApp Business Account numbers can be migrated between BSPs and to direct Meta Cloud API access. We handle the technical migration as part of the Build engagement. There's typically a 1-2 day window where your number transitions; we plan it during low-traffic hours and keep your team informed on the call.

You lose the dashboard. That's the main thing. If your team is used to logging into WATI to see chats, you'll need a designed handle of some sort — most clients want their existing CRM or a custom dashboard. We design that as part of the build. Beyond the dashboard, you lose nothing. You keep your WhatsApp number, your templates (we rebuild them properly), your contacts, and you gain ownership of the entire stack.
